PGH Photo Fair (PPF) was founded by Evan Mirapaul in 2012.

The fair initially took place in the former Ace Hotel in East Liberty then moved to UnSmoke Systems Artspace in Braddock. It finally settled into the Hall of Sculpture at the Carnegie Museum of Art for five of its seven exhibiting years. Casey Droege came on as Co-Director in 2016 and helped to continue the fair along with its Speaker Series programming.

The PGH Photo Fair provided informative talks on photography at a variety of venues in Pittsburgh leading up to each edition of the fair. The Speaker Series aimed to augment the already rich art and photography scene in Pittsburgh with speakers who would focus on the nuts and bolts of collecting including connoisseurship, the state of the art, and an insider's view of the market.

All PGH Photo Fair programming was free and open to the public. In 2020 and 2021, PPF switched to a virtual format. In lieu of a physical fair, PPF hosted a series of free virtual Speaker Series talks and a Collector’s Show and Tell event.
